Neymar sent a message to Paris Saint-Germain fans after being booed in the Ligue 1 championship game on Saturday, and the winger told the protesters to prepare themselves, emphasizing that he would not be leaving the club any time soon.
PSG players have been ridiculed in home matches since they were knocked out by Real Madrid on March 9 in the Champions League, and Neymar has been the most harshly criticized.
Rather than shy away from negative attention, the Brazilian reacted directly to the destructive atmosphere in the Parc de Princes.
WHAT DID NEYMAR SAY ABOUT FANS?
Speaking to ESPN after PSG’s 1-1 draw with Lens on Saturday, the star football player commented:
“I still have a contract with Paris Saint-Germain. I’m here for three more years, so they’re going to get tired of whistling me.”
The most boos were against Neymar as PSG players drew 0-0 into the locker room. After the match, the fans vacated the Parc de Princes early despite the championship celebrations. This was not the first reaction to Neymar.
Midfielder Marco Verratti, who was not satisfied with what happened in the match, said in a statement to Canal+:
“The fans who don’t celebrate? That’s something I don’t understand. This is football, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. We are normal people, of course we can get backlash. But the 10th championship is important.”
Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe tried not to let the fans bother him.
“We celebrated among ourselves,” said the French star, saying:
“We were able to put ourselves in a safe place very early in the season and we were never bothered by any opponent, we weren’t worried. That’s why we are very happy.
“No one can spoil my mood. We make a lot of sacrifices and we want to make a mark in history. There are always difficult conditions in a season and this is one of them. I don’t personally feel the reaction of the fans. I was very happy to win.”
