A disaster: After the maths building of the Technical University was closed on Friday after a sabotage of water taps, there was now a burst pipe in the chemistry building. 19 rooms had to be closed on four floors.

The new damage was discovered on Monday. The cause? TU spokeswoman Stefanie Terp to BZ: “The reason was a heavily corroded pipe whose valve jumped off and caused the water damage on the 3rd floor. As a result, a seminar room on the second floor was completely destroyed because the ceiling construction could not withstand the inflowing water. The water also poured out in the corridors.”

19 rooms are currently affected, including work rooms and in particular laboratories for inorganic chemistry / materials chemistry, which cannot be used at the moment. The water is pumped out.

The mathematics building, which is also on Strasse des 17. Juni, was the victim of an act of sabotage. Unknown people had poured instant cement down the drains and turned on the taps. 300 courses are affected, for which new rooms had to be found.
