After Frimpong’s end of the season
Bayer Leverkusen will probably be without right-back Timothy Fosu-Mensah for several weeks. The 24-year-old suffered a tendon injury in his right hamstring in Thursday’s knockout round in the Europa League against Atalanta Bergamo and will be absent “for the time being”, as the “Werkself” announced on Saturday. The exact downtime depends on the course of the rehabilitation.
Jeremie Frimpong, the regular at right-back, had previously been injured. The 21-year-old is out for the rest of the season after a syndesmosis tear in his right ankle – Bayer 04 therefore no longer have a nominal right-back (see squad by position). Florian Wirtz (18), the most valuable player from Leverkusen with a market value of 70 million euros, will also not return to the pitch this season. He is expected to be out for six months with a cruciate ligament tear.
Quick recovery, @tfosumensah!
