Harry Kane continues to score in the new year and continues to hunt for ex-Bayern star Robert Lewandowski. And the Englishman could get even better, after all, he now has a fellow countryman at FC Bayern in Eric Dier at his side.
Harry Kane certainly didn’t play his best game against TSG Hoffenheim (sport.de-Grade 3.0). But the Brit ultimately did what he does best and for which FC Bayern transferred around 100 million to Tottenham Hotspur: he sank the marble into the goal.
Kane’s goal to make it 3-0 against Hoffenheim was his 22nd Bundesliga goal in just his 16th game of the season. The 30-year-old set a record set by his “predecessor” Robert Lewandowski: The Pole scored 17 goals in the first half of the 2020/21 season and ultimately broke Bayern icon Gerd Müller’s “eternal” record with 41 goals from 1972 (40).
Kane could of course surpass Lewandowski’s mark, as Bayern still have a catch-up game to play from the first half of the season, which will take place on January 24th against Union Berlin.
FC Bayern: Dier change makes Kane “really happy”
The record transfer from Munich now feels right at home at Bayern – perhaps even more so after the arrival of his compatriot Eric Dier. Kane said he was “really happy” about the transfer. “I’ve known Eric for a long time, I’ve played with him for a long time, I know what a great player he can be for us,” said the striker.
Kane looks back on nine years together with Dier at Tottenham Hotspur, and both have also played for the English national team since 2015.
Kane himself is now starting to feel “at home” in Munich, where he recently moved into a villa with his family after months in a hotel. It’s the same routine as in England: training, dropping off and picking up the children from school, playing games .”
