Manuel Neuer is working flat out and with determination on his return to FC Bayern’s goal. But his operated right leg is still reporting, a full load is still not possible for the Munich captain. Once again, the Bayern bosses are pondering an alternative between the posts.
The fact that Yann Sommer will remain the number one goalkeeper at FC Bayern if Manuel Neuer is actually absent for another few weeks in the new season is likely as things stand, but by no means certain.
On the one hand, Champions League finalists Inter Milan are said to be seriously interested in the 34-year-old, who was only signed by Bundesliga competitor Borussia Mönchengladbach last winter.
On the other hand, Bayern’s head coach Thomas Tuchel should not be completely convinced of Yann Sommer after the time together. At least the “Sport Bild” reported that the FCB coach “would like to have even more quality in this position”. According to the specialist magazine, Tuchel would therefore like to have another “even stronger” goalkeeper for 2023/2024 if Neuer is actually not able to report fully operational.
Sanchez has played twice for Spain
In addition to several names that have already been traded, such as Georgia youngster Giorgi Mamardashvili from FC Valencia or Morocco’s World Cup hero Bono (FC Sevilla), “Sport Bild” brings another personality into play with Robert Sanchez.
The 25-year-old could also fit into the requirement profile of those responsible at Säbener Straße, who ultimately only want to get a new keeper on an interim basis before Manuel Neuer returns to the top level.
Sanchez has been in England for many years, becoming a first-choice goalkeeper at Brighton & Hove Albion three years ago after several loan deals. The teammate of the German legionnaire Pascal Groß is a top performer in his team and has even had two senior international matches for the Spanish national team.
It is still unknown whether the German champions are actually interested in the Spanish goalkeeper.
