Next development in the transfer dispute about Jaka Cuber Potocnik

In the transfer dispute about storm talent Jaka Cuber Potocnik, according to a media report, after the Bundesliga soccer club 1. FC Köln and NK Olimpija Ljubljana, the young player also called the International Sports Court Cas.

As the “Kölnische Rundschau” reported, the arbitral tribunal based in Lausanne, Switzerland, confirmed a request for an appeal. The Court of Arbitration for Sports has also announced a press release on the case for Monday.

The world football association FIFA issued a transfer ban for two transfer periods against the Cologne team at the end of March. The reason for the penalty is the dispute between the seven-time Slovenian champions from Ljubljana and Cologne over the commitment of the 17-year-old youngster Potocnik in January 2022.

The FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber found the Cologne team guilty of unjustified breach of contract and incitement to breach of contract. Potocnik has been banned for four months – in addition to paying 51,750 euros to his ex-club. As a first step, the Bundesliga club wants to temporarily suspend the verdict.

The Slovenian first division club is aiming for a much higher financial compensation than the 51,750 euros set by the world association FIFA. Potocnik is to pay the amount to his ex-club, with the Cologne Bundesliga team being jointly liable. According to Rundschau information, Ljubljana continues to demand a fee of 2.5 million euros. According to the Slovenians, the basis for the sum is an offer that they want to have received from Dinamo Zagreb.
