Next bitter setback for Hertha BSC

In terms of sport, things are not going well for Hertha BSC at the moment, and there is a risk of relegation in the Bundesliga. Now the crisis club has to cope with another setback.

As the “RBB” reports, citing negotiating circles, there is still no agreement on the new Hertha Stadium in the capital in the Berlin coalition negotiations between the CDU and SPD.

Accordingly, both parties should support the construction of a privately financed pure football stadium for Hertha BSC. However, there is disagreement about the possible location of the arena.

The previous sports senator Iris Spranger (SPD) favors a building in Lindeneck on the north-western edge of the Olympic Park.

According to the report, only one passage will make it into the coalition agreement that refers to the expert commission set up by Spranger. This in turn should check the location by next September.

We are said to have been struggling to reach a maximum audience limit of 45,000 for Hertha BSC’s new venue. If this makes it into the coalition agreement, it would be tantamount to committing to the Lindeneck.

Hertha BSC is threatened with relegation again

However, both in the SPD and in the CDU there should also be voices that want to consider the entire Olympic Park for a possible new building. Locations outside of the Olympic Park could also be considered, it is said.

Positive from Hertha BSC’s point of view: The club’s league affiliation will ultimately play no role in the stadium question.

The old lady is currently ranked 16th in relegation. Last season, the club from the capital only saved itself in the relegation against Hamburger SV.

Hertha BSC has played its home games since 1963 with interruptions in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. However, the desire to move to a pure football arena has existed for many years – and the impasse will probably continue for the time being.
