Next bankruptcy for German water polo players

The German water polo players suffered their next defeat at the World Cup final in Los Angeles and no longer had a chance of fifth place.

The team of national coach Milos Sekulic lost 6:19 in the placement round against Olympic silver medalist Greece on Saturday and is still playing for seventh place on Sunday. Opponent is then Romania or Serbia.

The newly formed selection of the German Swimming Federation (DSV) is conceding its first defeats under Sekulic these days among the top nations. On Friday there was a 9:18 in the quarterfinals against world champions Spain.

Previously, the water polo players had lined up eleven victories. In May, they qualified as winners of Division 2 for the World Cup final with the top teams, and last weekend they also bought a ticket for the 2024 European Championships (January 3 to 16) in Israel. Germany is not qualified for the World Cup in two weeks in Fukuoka, Japan.
