News | Theatrical invasion in Cördoba

The Córdoba Culture Agency, as of this month chaired by the cultural manager Raúl Sansica, once again demonstrates that despite the economic ups and downs that plague the country, culture is paramount in hazardous times. For this reason, the organization of the 11th edition of the International Theater Festival for Children and Youth, which runs until Sunday, October 16, is more than praiseworthy.

For years, as a welcome custom of this section, we have contributed to spreading this traditional meeting in the interior of the country, which maintains its itinerant and inclusive format by bringing different aesthetic proposals throughout the province. During these days, more than 70 activities are carried out in official halls and spaces in the Cordoba capital. The classic event, one of the most important in Latin America, shows an eclectic, federal and international imprint by adding shows from Italy (“La salvazione”), Uruguay (“I invite you to clear water”), Brazil (“Cuentos de arena”) , Mexico (“Gira”) and the Dominican Republic (“Tales on the River Bank”).

This year, the intelligent curatorial idea is based on different thematic axes, such as, for example, fostering the intergenerational bond, between grandparents, parents and grandchildren, to activate the exchange not only between casts and spectators but also contribute from art to defend rights such as inclusion and diversity.

The launch was with an artistic intervention in which giant dolls from the Stable Puppet Theater of the Faculty of Art of the National University of Córdoba, together with a murga from the Desafiarte Foundation and musicians from the Youth for Inclusion Foundation orchestra and Social Participation, with its recycled instruments, brightened up the central Plaza San Martín.

The program includes works such as “Niño Mermaid”, “La Catrina, memories of Doña Francisca”, “Malvinas, 74 days/1982”, by the Comedy Cordoba, the Children’s Comedy of the Royal Theater and the stable Theater of Puppets. Babies from the age of 6 months also have their space with “Los mundos de Manu”, by the Compañía Estación Primera Infancia. In addition, there will be shows in towns such as Río Cuarto, Capilla del Monte, Río Ceballos, Oncativo and Laguna Larga. In short, a welcome theatrical invasion.
