News | The Sandman

★★★★ The Sandman cartoon is a classic. Writer/screenwriter Neil Gaiman’s ability to create fantasy worlds through horror and wonder has always been remarkable. The series, with the approval of the author, does not detract from the comic and sustains that universe where reality and the world of dreams intersect dangerously. The “sandman”, Sueño, is the personification of oneiric fantasies, threatened like the world by an entity with enormous power. But beyond the story of “good guys and bad guys” (although this is relative in the Gaiman world), the series has an extraordinary visual display that manages to capture the hallucinatory of the writer’s imagination. That, too, is his problem: at times the design seems to “eat” the characters, impacting the gaze more than the intelligence. Even so, it is one of the best that platforms have given in recent times.
