Closer to the telenovela than to the series (because of its decidedly melodramatic intention), this strip of Or Balloon from nearly a decade ago still works: great production values and the story of a girl who tries to be a model and becomes a luxury prostitute to help her family is something that always works. Yes, of course, the commonplaces about rich and poor and all that, just as you imagine. But it works.
