Paola, what is your academic background and since when did you develop as a professional?
I am a Psychologist graduated from the National University of Tucumán, trained in the early years in Psychoanalysis at the EOL, then at the Sigmund Freud Foundation.
Some time later I discarded those approaches because I felt that they curtailed my expression and creativity. I also felt that the bond that was established with the patient was insubstantial, that is how I first came to Siloist humanism, and then to my beloved Gestalt, where I could self-discover, heal and fully accompany my own process and that of my clients, being Human. .
I have been working as a Psychologist for 20 years and I have been a Gestalt Therapist for 16 years, trained in Integrative processes through the living Gestalt of Claudio Naranjo, Biodanza, dance movement therapy, theater, international Kundalini Yoga teacher, creator of Education for the Being and Gestalt Alive.
This is my particular way of seeing life and approaching therapeutic healing processes, both in teaching and in therapy. My objective is the same, to bring self-knowledge about character or ego and help transcend the limits that it has generated in human beings. I believe that the psychological ills and diseases that human beings suffer are the direct consequence of the type of society that we embody from our darkening of consciousness.
Fifteen years ago, for the pleasure of loving what I do, I dedicated myself to giving retreats on different themes in different parts of the country. Mainly I deal with the healing of childhood wounds through healing our inner child, after the processes of self-knowledge and therapy in light of the Enneagram.
Do you also work online?
I have been working virtually for some years, both in individual and group therapy, teaching Meditation, Mindfulness and Kundalini yoga, among other activities.
What functions do you perform in the Tucumán Viva Gestalt Movement Foundation?
I am the President and Founder of the Foundation, where I develop teaching and research tasks at the service of disseminating the Viva Gestalt Approach, bringing humanistic paradigms and Transpersonal Psychology closer to the current World.
My highest interest is in the awakening of consciences at a more massive level, which is why from the Foundation I lead different self-transformation projects, which include children with Happy Schools, the Courage to Dream and Change Program for adolescents, and the Training approaches for teachers, psychologists and parents.
A few years ago I began a critical review of the different existing psychological paradigms and I see the need to rewrite a deep Humanist psychology that does not overwhelm or compare women from a patriarchal place. I dedicate myself to training women’s circle facilitators, to democratize knowledge and make it possible for more and more people to change through self-respect.
In my early days I was a therapist for psychotic people who taught me a lot, always grateful to those beings and to the children.
I learned that we can’t really give what we don’t have. If I do not know who I am or where I am going, I cannot accompany others on their journey, as there is a risk of confusion. I am who I am, I enjoy my existence and I share myself with whomever I can serve.
