News | Palermo Division

★★★ Let’s go with the friendly: Argentina has lacked television humor for so long that it is worth the appearance of this comedy series with black humor and very good moments and reideros. The idea of an urban guard group made up of “minorities” (the quotation marks seem to come from the mouths of the protagonists) is not bad and it works. There are some inspired performers (Pilar Gamboa is one of the best we have today) and well-resolved secondary players (another natural resource: Alan Sabbagh). Let’s go with the least kind: the idea of ”political incorrectness” is not such, but that is not an obligation either. But given that such is the premise, it is half-baked. It gives the impression that the world it satirises is discriminatory and racist. And no, it is not the police, of whom such a postulate would be credible, but us, the middle class. The problem is that it is not (or is not so, in any case) like that. When División Palermo leaves the referential joke and becomes animated, it has the potential to be the great comedy series that we need.
