daniel hadad (60) often repeats that the internet is changing and that very soon the web will be very different from the one we know. Two years ago he managed to make Infobae the most widely read Spanish-language news site in the world, but he knows that he must be at the forefront of transformations to sustain it. That is why he made the decision to settle in Miami. The United States granted him permanent residence in March and these days he is working on putting together his new team. The objective in the next three years is to open two new newsrooms in Latin America and expand the number of journalists in Spain, the gateway to Europe.
More than twenty years ago hadah He spends about a hundred days a season in Miami, where he first bought an apartment and later an office, where he has been working every day since March. The government granted the “green card” to him and his wife, Viviana Zoco, who also plans to grow with his own company from there. The woman has a technology company dedicated to education and she is associated with three investment funds, two from the United States and one from India.
In this new stage, however, the couple intends to spend at least four or five days a month in Argentina, where one of their daughters, Camila, lives. His other three children are scattered around the world: Felicitas, the youngest, started the second year of university in London, Milagros lives in Madrid and Mateo travels through Latin America for his work in the publishing world.
Hadad’s expansion with Infobae
International growth started long ago. In 2014, hadah decided to set up an office in Miami, and two years later, Infobae became the first company outside the United States to have a Content Management System (CMS) from Amazon.
Before getting the CMS, in 2013, Hadad had launched Infobae America, a site with journalists in different countries of the region. However, he soon noticed that the readers who have an international portal among their main media outlets are few and sophisticated. For this reason, he decided to open local newsrooms with local journalists. The first outside of Buenos Aires was in Mexico and then came Colombia. In 2021, fifteen days before the ballottage in Peru, the one in Lima was inaugurated.
hadah bet on massiveness and years ago it disassociated itself from editorial functions. Today it is considered the link between technology and the media. He says among his own that it helps him to maintain his journalistic nose to realize what new tools they can contribute to the profession and, of course, to have good contacts. In Miami, his new place, it will be easier to rub shoulders with the tech giants.
