The young artists Alex and Edith, the elderly Milagros, the children Frank and Alain. They all live in San Antonio De Los Baños, in the Cuban interior, where the director, here at his feature film debuthas spent enough time to know the reality of migration and its repercussions on people’s lives: the pain of separation that poisons the relationship between Alex and Edith (she will leave, he has decided to stay), but projects hope in the boys’ future (they dream of becoming successful footballers).
Milagros instead lives, like many of his compatriots, on a subsistence economy and feeds on the past. Shot in black and white and in the least predictable season, the film that opened the Giornate degli Autori in Venice is a contemporary fresco on the painful mystery of a place and on the memory of its inhabitants.

Serial Liar: Tarek Boudali lies as he breathes
Remake of a Canadian film (never released by us) in which a chronic liar suddenly realizes all his bizarre lies, is a comedy of little pretension, but very effective. The protagonist, narcissistic, seducer and superficial, has never taken anything seriously, neither relationships nor responsibilities at work.
Cornered by the arrival of a Russian businessman, he thus triggers the irreversible process: Neighbor becomes serial killer, co-worker suffers from narcolepsy, loving parents abuse him. Boudali is part of a group of comedians, La Bande à Fifi, famous in France. He laughs a lot.
