Newly tagged storks Zwin all in Africa for the first time

The five storks received their transmitter last summer, and they left the Zwin on 6 August. That is two weeks earlier than usual, and it may be due to the persistent summer weather: the conditions for flying long distances were therefore ideal. Storks also fly on the thermals, the play of warm and cold air.

All in Africa

Where the tagged storks have now arrived in Africa, the newly tagged birds stayed in Spain for other years to overwinter. Most of the birds that make the crossing stay in Morocco.

The Zwin has been tagging storks since 2019, seventeen storks have been tagged since then, nine of them are still alive.
