Gelsenkirchen (dpa) – After FC Schalke 04 returned to the Bundesliga, CEO Bernd Schröder asked for your understanding for the continued austerity measures in Gelsenkirchen.
“Just because we’ve risen and everyone has had a really great time together doesn’t mean the world has changed a lot for us,” Schröder said in an interview with the Funke media group’s newspapers.
The 56-year-old CEO also campaigned for “the right level of expectations” for the upcoming season. For coach Frank Kramer’s team, the task is “clearly staying up in the league”.
One of Schröder’s main tasks is to find a successor for Vivawest, the main sponsor who stepped in after the separation from Gazprom. In an interview, the CEO said he believes that Vivawest will continue its commitment: “But on a different level, not on the highest level.”
Schröder wants to split the main sponsor right into three: “We have the shirt chest for television, we have the training clothing for social media coverage, and we have our Knappenschmiede. With this division, we no longer need this one huge partner who outshines everything. “
