Kieran Trippier should be the focus of Bayern. While a verbal agreement is said to have already been reached, there is now a new twist.
Newcastle United have rejected a rumored offer from Bayern Munich for right-back Kieran Trippier, according to a report. As the TV broadcaster Sky reported without citing the source, the Premier League club is said to not want to give up the 33-year-old English international. However, that could just be a transfer tactic.
The Munich team have allegedly reached a verbal agreement with the defender, who still has a contract with Newcastle until the summer of 2025. There were initially no official statements about the possible transfer.
There is speculation about Trippier as a promising alternative for FC Bayern if the addition of Nordi Mukiele (26 years old/Paris Saint-Germain) doesn’t work out. Trippier previously played at Tottenham Hotspur and also in the national team with Munich’s Harry Kane and Eric Dier.
Coach Thomas Tuchel, who would like to have another right-back in the squad, said before Sunday’s Bundesliga home game against Werder Bremen (from 3:30 p.m. in the live ticker on t-online): “I won’t comment on names because it’s not appropriate and we “We also don’t want other clubs to talk publicly about our players. The positions we might want to add to if there is an opportunity are clearly defined.”
