The recently increased hopes of Liverpool FC and its German team manager Jürgen Klopp to qualify for the Champions League again have been dampened.
Reds rivals and third-placed Newcastle United ended their losing streak in the catch-up game against Brighton & Hove Albion with a 4-1 (2-0) win on a point from their last two meetings and built up their lead over Klopp’s fifth-placed team with the last two rounds to go four counters.
Record champions Manchester United are one point ahead of Liverpool in fourth place. However, the Red Devils also have a catch-up game up their sleeves.
