While many fashion companies are withdrawing from Russia because of the Ukraine war, there are also fashion retailers opening new locations – New Yorker is one of them.
The Braunschweig fashion retailer has opened a new store in Vegas Crocus City near Moscow, the shopping center announced on Instagram on Monday. The opening of the store, which is located on the first floor, was “long awaited”, according to the article.
The store, which opened on March 10, offers a sales area of 1,450 square meters. The brand previously opened a store in Vegas Kashirskoye Shopping Mall. Another location in a Vegas shopping center is to be implemented in Kuntsevo, Moscow by the end of the year, according to a statement from the Russian shopping center operator Crocus Group, which is behind the Vegas areas.
“We are delighted to be able to add a renowned international retailer with a long history to our tenant pool. The brand philosophy fully meets the needs of the mall’s target audience,” said Anastasia Dovchenko, Director of Real Estate at Crocus Group.
But not only New Yorker is currently in the process of opening new spaces in Russia. Italian shoe brand Geox also recently opened its doors at Vegas Crocus City, according to the mall’s website.
The New Yorker has not yet responded to a request from FashionUnited. The Braunschweig-based company operates more than 1,150 branches in 47 countries and employs over 21,000 people.
