New York stocks outlook: Close to record levels

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The US stock market barometers are expected to start trading on Wednesday just below their record levels. The broker IG valued the Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial) moderately higher at 37,555 points around an hour before the starting bell. The NASDAQ 100, which is dominated by technology stocks, is also expected to rise slightly at the start to 16,900 points.

Last week the Dow reached its highest level in its history at 37,641 points. The Nasdaq 100 followed suit the day before and set a historic record at just under 16,908 points. And the market-wide S&P 500 is not far away from reaching a record high.

Stocks in the USA continue to receive support from lower yields on the bond market. Interest rates on ten-year government bonds fell slightly in early trading on Wednesday. Investors therefore continue to rely on lower capital market interest rates.

In premarket trading, investors once again placed their bets on large technology stocks. The papers from Intel, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD (Advanced Micro Devices)), NVIDIA and Amazon tended to be friendly. Shares of companies that rely on generative artificial intelligence (AI) were also sought after. Upstart Holdings (Upstart) and C3.ai (C3ai A) each gained around one percent./bek/mis
