New York stocks end: difficult stabilization after a weak week

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – The US stock markets only stabilized a little on Friday after their significant losses the previous day. The leading index Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial) closed 0.31 percent lower at 33,963.84 points, recording a weekly loss of 1.9 percent. The market-wide S&P 500 lost 0.23 percent to 4320.06 points on Friday.

Only the NASDAQ 100 maintained an increase of 0.05 percent to 14,701.10 points thanks to significant price gains by some heavyweights such as NVIDIA and Facebook parent Meta (Meta Platforms (ex Facebook)). On a weekly basis, however, this meant a price discount of 3.3 percent for the technology-heavy and therefore particularly interest rate-sensitive selection index./gl/jha/
