Sandro Schwarz has completed his coaching team at the New York Bulls with familiar faces: Vedad Ibišević and Volkan Bulut will assist Schwarz as assistant coaches. Schwarz had worked with Bulut at Hertha BSC and Dinamo Moscow, and he also knows Ibišević from Berlin, who worked in the capital as a striker coach from 2021 to 2023 and then as a youth head coach. Fourth in the group is Ibrahim Sekagya, who has been working for the Red Bulls since 2013 and also trains the second team.
“I am pleased to strengthen my coaching team with Volkan, Vedad and Ibrahim – they all bring valuable experience that will help us in the coming season. We are all looking forward to getting started together and preparing for the upcoming 2024 season,” said Schwarz. This is the second US adventure for Ibišević, as the former top striker played for US college teams from 2001 to 2004 before moving to PSG.
The most well-known addition to Schwarz’s squad is Emil Forsberg (32), who came from Leipzig. Among other things Central defender Noah Eile (21, Malmö), the two right-backs Juan Mina (19, Cali) and Kyle Duncan (26, Ostend) and striker Jorge Cabezas (19, Watford) were also brought in. The MLS season starts at the end of February and Deadline Day is not until April 23rd.
