P.ur being a topic still little addressed, the polyamory is a reality and those who practice this type of relations now calls for equal rights.
And if in Italy we discuss rainbow families, a New York runs a judge took a step forward against the unions between several people.
Polyamory, this (still) unknown
There Judge of the civil court Karen May Bacdayanin fact, he may have taken the first step towards change by ruling that polyamorous unions deserve the same rights and protections as relationships between two people.
By definition, polyamorous unions (from the ancient Greek: πολύ, poly, “many” and from the Latin: amor, “love”) are the consensual ones between partners who can have multiple relationships at the same time.
The sentence in a rental case
The case discussed in New York specifically involved two comrades residing in a New York apartment, Scott Anderson and Markyus O’Neill and the husband of one of them, Robert Romano residing in another accommodation.
Following death of Anderson, to whom the rent was made outthe condominium prevented from extending the payment to O’Nell because he was considered a “non-traditional family member” and defined his custody rights “a fairy tale”.
Polyamory and “traditional”
Judge Bacdayan, however, evidently did not think the same way and he rejected the criticism of the non-traditional relationship in its entirety.
“Because a person has to commit to another person only in certain prescribed ways to be able to enjoy the stability of housing after the death of a loved one? ” Bacdayan wonders. “All non-traditional relationships must they include or include only two primary people? ‘
The family is transformed
The sentence is given. With an addition: “Before gay marriage was legalized, the New York state court was the first in America to recognize that a non-traditional relationshipof whatever type it is, it is entitled to a legal recognition. And that i non-traditional family members are entitled to receive protections that do not evict themThe judge said. Adding that among the changes that have taken place from 1989 to today, too the meaning of “family” has evolved.
For this reason perhaps “the time has come»To open the door«to the consideration of other relational constructs“.
Lizzo: “There is no single type of relationship”
The debate is heated and has involved, in recent days, several statements by the singer Lizzowho during an interview contested the presumed universality of monogamous relationships: “Is monogamy a religion by any chance?Asks the singer.
While not defining herself as polyamorous, she stated that it is much more important to be an autonomous and independent couple than monogamous. “Isn’t it much more important to be two integers connecting? The pop star asks rhetorically.
