At the New Year’s tournament for women ski jumping, Austria’s Eva Pinkelnig celebrated victory in the first of four competitions. Best DSV starter was Selina Freitag.
The ski jumpers have to wait for their first Four Hills Tournament. Instead they are on a New Year’s Eve tour. First stop is Villach.
In the first of two competitions in Carinthia, local hero Eva Pinkelnig prevailed on Wednesday (28.12.22). Norway’s Ana Odine Ström finished second ahead of Nika Kriznar (SLO).
Friday best DSV starter
In the first round, Anna Rupprecht and Selina Freitag, with places four and five, laid a good foundation for the final and fueled hopes of a podium finish. “It could always have been further“, so Freitag in the ZDF interview. She wanted to use the air up in the second round. She was able to improve in the distance, but on landing Freitag left points. In seventh place, however, as the best German starter, she still collected a good World Cup -points a.
Althaus makes places good
For Katharina Althaus (86.5/93 m), the leader in the World Cup, the first jump was not quite as high. At the second appearance she was able to improve from 16th to ninth place. “I didn’t get in here all that well“, analyzed Althaus. Rupprecht, on the other hand, could not make a leap forward and finished 12th
Teammate Luisa Görlich (86/84.5m), who recently expressed her displeasure that the women’s Four Hills Tournament was postponed again, slipped down to 25th place.
Agnes Reisch happy in the final
Agnes Reisch (91.5/85m) happily slipped into the final as 31st. However, she couldn’t improve, so in the end it stayed that way. Only Pauline Hessler missed the crucial passage.
