From Hildburg Bruns
The previous party company is bankrupt. The capital was threatened with a dreary turn of the year. At the last minute, one of the biggest players in the industry took over: concert promoter Peter Schwenkow (69, “Rolling Stones”) is managing the next New Year’s Eve party at the Brandenburg Gate. However, for the first time, entry costs 10 euros.
Three reasons convinced Schwenkow to step in: “Firstly: The Brandenburg Gate must not remain dark. Second: The incredibly large number of visitors – tourists AND Berliners. Third: Four and a half hours live on ZDF with Kiewi and Kerner – there is no TV show without a party.”
Two years of Corona failure and at the turn of the year only a mini party with just 2,500 admitted visitors to Pariser Platz. No fireworks, no confetti. PLEASE FORGET!
There will be another big celebration between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column. “If it’s a party, then a party,” Schwenkow tells the BZ. The security concept alone with security and fence costs more than 250,000 euros. At least part of the 10 euro fee should be recouped.
Advance ticket sales for the New Year’s Eve party are scheduled to start in about three weeks. The cards are personalized. Schwenkow: “We believe that this leads to a very safe event if you know who is there.” However, the names of the accompaniments can be added or changed later.
“You know ten out of ten artists,” says Schwenkow ambiguously. ZDF still has to confirm the acts. Gastronomy should be organized in a funnier way – as a food truck festival.
