Are you over sixty? Then this Tuesday the invitation for the repeat jab against corona will fall. From Monday 19 September you can then visit the GGD by appointment to get the jab. A tour of Omroep Brabant shows that the three GGDs in our province are ready for the new round of vaccinations.
Anyone who has an invitation can make an appointment via www.planjeprik.nl or via the National Vaccination Appointment Number 0800-7070. People with a higher risk of becoming seriously ill from corona are the first to act. These are people from the age of 60, people who receive an annual flu shot, residents and staff of healthcare institutions and people with Down syndrome. You must not have been vaccinated or have had corona in the three months before the repeat shot.
After the first group has been vaccinated, anyone from the age of 12 who wants to can get a repeat shot. When that will be is not yet known. This will be announced via the (social) media.
The GGG Brabant-Zuidoost does not yet know how busy it will be: “That’s just looking at coffee grounds for us. It is known that the coronavirus can revive in the autumn and winter. Our team is ready to vaccinate anyone who wants to “It’s their turn. We have recently brought our team back up to strength and trained the new employees. Two locations are available in our region, on the Haverdijk in Helmond and Fellenoord in Eindhoven.”
Quite a bit busy
GGD Hart voor Brabant is ready for quite a bit of crowds: “We certainly expect a significant increase in the first weeks of the campaign, given the high vaccination rate in our region in previous rounds. The repeat shot can be done three months after the last corona shot or a corona infection experienced. We are now finalizing site preparations and staff training. We have sufficient staff for most positions, but we would like to increase the workforce with additional doctors, who are still recruiting. “
From 19 September, people in the Hart voor Brabant region can visit the vaccination locations in Den Bosch, Tilburg, Veghel, Waalwijk, Berghem, Boxtel and Cuijk by appointment.
The GGD West Brabant is also ready. “Four locations are available: Breda International Airport (in Bosschenhoofd), Breda Heerbaan, Breda Centrum and Roosendaal.”
Which vaccine will I get?
On the advice of the Outbreak Management Team, the renewed vaccines from BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna are used for the repeat injection. These protect against more variants of the coronavirus. According to the Ministry of Health, the repeat shot ensures that people become less ill as a result of the corona virus. “People may also be less susceptible to infection after the repeat shot and they are less able to transfer the virus to others,” the ministry writes.
