Are the unboosted ones going to get it now?

Lower Saxony’s Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) wants to increase the vaccination pressure – and no longer pay unboosted contact persons of corona infected people in the event of a quarantine. She told the “Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung”.
She wants to put her initiative into action as quickly as possible. Behrens: “It has to happen, and I personally have March 1st as the deadline.” She pointed out that contact persons with a booster vaccination could avoid quarantine. Behrens said that she had suggested an exchange in the conference of health ministers.
Behrens continues: “You can get a vaccination appointment relatively quickly in every village. Against this background, I believe that we can no longer expect taxpayers, i.e. the general public, to shoulder payments for contacts in quarantine, even though these could have been avoided with a booster vaccination.”
However, the minister also made it clear that anyone who falls ill with Corona should continue to receive continued payment of wages – regardless of their vaccination status.
At the same time, Behrens promised far-reaching easing for Lower Saxony in the spring.

The currently applicable “winter rest” for the cultural and leisure sector is expected to be maintained until the end of February. Behrens: “In my opinion, we won’t need a spring and summer break, but we want to open up more and make it possible as soon as possible.”
It must be a matter of taking smart and careful opening steps in a few weeks. Behrens: “I think we can allow more in March, especially with private contacts. I also believe that larger events in the cultural sector will then be justifiable again, and we will gradually be able to do more again with concerts and in the catering trade.”
