New trains must provide at least eight places for bicycles | Inland

Gilkinet’s draft law aims to strengthen rail passenger rights. This also improves the complaints procedure.

In addition, at least eight places for bicycles will be provided on new trains. Europe imposes four, but Belgium wants to go further, says Gilkinet, “so that it is even easier to take your bike with you on the train”. Four places for bicycles will be provided during the modernization of existing trains.

This should also free up extra space for people with reduced mobility, because the bicycles no longer take the place of wheelchairs, for example. In addition, station and train staff also receive training to better meet the needs of less mobile people.
