Moonage Daydream is scheduled to air exclusively in IMAX theaters on September 16th. Now a new trailer has been released for the documentary about David Bowie.
Directed by Brett Morgen, best known for the Kurt Cobain documentary Cobain: Montage of Heck, the film has been described as an “experimental cinematic odyssey” narrated by Bowie and exploring his creative, musical and spiritual journey. It is the first film to be officially sanctioned by Bowie’s estate and features exclusive footage and audio.
The synopsis of the work states: “Moonage Daydream” is an immersive film experience, an audiovisual space odyssey that not only illuminates the enigmatic legacy of David Bowie, but is also a guide to a fulfilling and meaningful life in the 21st century. .
Brett Morgen suffered a heart attack while filming
Morgen suffered a heart attack in May of this year after starting work on the project in January 2017. He told the BBC: “Just as I was starting production on the film, I had a massive heart attack. I went into cardiac arrest for three minutes and was in a coma. My life was out of control and I was completely obsessed with work. I put all my ego into my work and I am a father of three children. When you have such an experience, you think: What is the message of my life? Work hard and die in your 40s?”. He continued, “I had to learn to live again, and that’s when David Bowie came back into my life at the age of 47.”
