HBO has released a new trailer for The Weeknd’s upcoming series The Idol. The series starts on June 4th
On Monday (April 17), HBO released a new trailer for The Weeknd’s upcoming series The Idol. The show’s release date has also been set: it will appear on June 4th on the HBO streaming service Max.
In the two-minute teaser, we see Lily-Rose Depp as “Jocelyn,” a pop artist whose goal is to become the biggest star of her generation. Tedros, played by Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, is a self-help guru who helps Jocelyn achieve her goal. The two begin a romantic relationship, which is already teased in the trailer. “Pop music is the ultimate Trojan horse,” says Tedros in the trailer. “You make people dance, you make people sing along,” he continues.
The racy trailer is powered by a reinterpretation of Britney Spears’ Hit song “Gimme More” underscores. There are also cameo appearances from Mike Dean and Jennie from the K-pop group BLACKPINK.
