New Titanic Expedition In Planning, But U.S. Opposes

The US government is trying to stop a new expedition to the Titanic wreck. That writes the American news agency Associated Press (AP) today. The expedition, which is being organized by a Georgia company that owns the rights to salvage the wreck, Washington said would violate international rules regarding the status of the Titanic as an inviolable burial monument. The expedition comes just two months after the controversial disaster in which the crew of a submarine died while trying to reach the wreck.
