Tesla owners are eagerly awaiting the new version of the autopilot software. On X (formerly Twitter), Tesla boss Musk has now given an indication of what the new software could look like.

The realization of self-driving cars requires that they offer at least the same level of safety as human drivers. It is already clearly foreseeable that the Elon Musk managed electric car company Tesla will play a significant role in the field of innovative progress. These days, Tesla offers the Autopilot feature for an additional fee. However, this is not fully autonomous driving, but rather support for the driver. Previously, there were significant concerns about the security of Musk’s proposed autopilot. The “Tesla files” published by the Handelsblatt provided insights into the world of Tesla and increased doubts about the safety of autonomous driving. Legal proceedings in connection with the driving assistant and incidents with injuries and fatalities tarnished the reputation of the pioneer in the field of electric cars.
Tesla’s FDS: New version 99 percent AI
According to a tweet from Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the innovation continues with a whole new approach. While the old version 11 still relied on 4D sensors, according to a tweet from Musk, the new version 12 seems to be taking a completely new approach and consists of 99 percent artificial intelligence (AI).
You mean 11.4.7? That should be going to wide release within a week.
Version 12, which an almost total rewrite (~99% AI) is being tested by our QA drivers.
Too much new code to go to the public yet, but it is mind-blowing imo.

Teslamag.de interprets Musk’s statement, in which he speaks of a completely new approach, as an indirect acknowledgment that the previous approach in version 11 may have led to a dead end. This implies that a complete redesign is necessary. He also called the new version “breathtaking”. However, the specific impact on security and technical details remain unclear. Those familiar with the eccentric CEO Musk know that his remarks are often just for marketing purposes, too.
