New suspect arrested in investigation into murder Peter R. de Vries

The police arrested a new suspect on Monday in the investigation into the attack on Peter R. de Vries. That reports the Public Prosecution Service (TO). The 29-year-old Dutch man was in a cell in the Penitentiary Institution Veenhuizen (Drenthe). He has been serving a five-year prison sentence since last year for trafficking in hard drugs and firearms.

The Public Prosecution Service suspects the man of being part of the criminal organization behind the murder of De Vries. According to the judiciary, restrictions have been imposed on the suspect, so that he can only have contact with his lawyer.

Since the assassination attempt on De Vries, the Public Prosecution Service has been conducting a large-scale investigation into the clients and those involved. There are nine suspects in the case so far. A suspect was also arrested in Tilburg in January. The lawsuits against the other suspects in the investigation are now pending at the court of Amsterdam. Among other things, two Dutch men aged 26 and 27 are suspected of being the perpetrators of the murder of De Vries. They were arrested in Spain and Curaçao last summer.

De Vries was shot in the center of Amsterdam in July 2021 when, after a television appearance on talk show, he RTL Boulevard walked to his car in a parking garage. He died in hospital nine days later.
