New study links disappearing saber-toothed tigers and dire wolves to human-driven forest fires

The large number of wildfires raging around the world this summer is having a huge impact on ecosystems. This appears to have been no different in the past. New research on fossils from North America shows that the extinction of saber-toothed tigers, dire wolves and other large mammals there 13,000 years ago can be linked to rising temperatures and an increase in the number of human-driven wildfires.
