Coach is launching a new store concept that invites customers to play. The first Coach Play store has opened in Chicago, the US bag and fashion label announced last week.
The Chicago store is located in the River North neighborhood and is the first in a series of new stores set to adopt the store concept later this year. The store’s design blends architectural cues from the label’s hometown of New York with local nods to Chicago, the statement said. Other design touches include ‘sustainably crafted’ mirrors by design studio Skilset and chairs by artist Elise McMahon upholstered with reclaimed leather scraps.
The retail space is also home to the latest iteration of Coach Create, the brand’s customization program, allowing customers to take part in workshops with local artists and customize Coach pieces however they want. Among other things, customers have the option of personalizing leather goods with monograms, digital prints or patches.
