Olivia Rodrigo has released a first single from her new album GUTS (September 8th, 2023): “Vampire”, a song about a toxic relationship with a narcissist who takes advantage of other people’s credulity and love – leaving them “sucked out”. A music video for the new single was also released a few hours ago. It has already been clicked more than 2.6 million times on YouTube (as of June 30).
The upcoming album will be released after a creative break of more than two years by the 20-year-old and their successful debut album SOUR.

Speaking of her new project, Olivia says: “For me, this album is about growing pains and trying to figure out who I really am at this point in my life. I have the feeling that I got at least 10 years older and more mature between my 18th and 20th birthday – it was such an intense time in which a lot has changed. I think that’s a natural part of growth and hopefully the new album will reflect that too.”
Olivia Rodrigo: “One of my favorite songs on the album”
On Instagram, the US actress and singer writes about her slides, in which you can see her singing and covered in blood as a vampire:
“Vampire song and video is out now! I did it with my very talented wonderful friend @DanNigro last winter and created the video with the amazing @PetrafCollins. Writing this song has helped me process many feelings of regret, anger, and heartbreak. It’s one of my favorite songs on the album and it felt very cathartic to finish. I’m so happy it’s in your hands now and I hope it helps you deal with all the bloodsuckers in your life. All my thanks forever.”
