FC Volendam will be without Calvin Twigt in the coming weeks. The 21-year-old midfielder has an ankle injury, which means he will not be available for the time being. This is what coach Regillio Simons says tonight in the football talk show De Aftrap.
“Calvin was kicked in the ankle in the seventh minute in the last match against FC Utrecht. That was not good,” says Simons. “There are still investigations that we have to wait for, but it may take longer.”
Twigt started in nineteen of the twenty league matches this season and scored two goals. He made his debut with the Dutch Juniors in mid-November. The loss of the basic force is a new setback, after FC Volendam lost striker Lequincio Zeefuik to AZ at the end of the winter transfer period.
Mbuyamba
FC Volendam will host leader PSV at home on Sunday. Xavier Mbuyamba is again missing from that match. The central defender has not played more often than not this season. For privacy reasons, club and player do not want to say what exactly is wrong with Mbuyamba. Simons: “We will keep it that way,” says Simons. “We have to wait and see with Xavier. We also don’t know how long he will be away.”
