Netflix releases many new films and series every month. The self-produced originals in particular occupy an important place in the program. Netflix has now presented all the content for November and also the first highlights for December. TECHBOOK highlights the new products.
The streaming service Netflix also has some highlights to offer in December. As usual, there are in-house productions, new projects, but also sequels to well-known series and films. TECHBOOK gives an overview of all the new releases and reveals which films and series are particularly worthwhile for subscribers.
New series on Netflix in December
Netflix opens the last month of the year with proven and popular series, especially “The Good Doctor” (season 5) and “SWAT” (season 5). But Netflix also pulls out all the stops when it comes to its own productions. With the second season of the rather dark fantasy series “Sweet Home” and the romance debut “Me and the Walter Boys”, two strong opposites are starting, followed by a football documentary about the US World Cup team Women. A special highlight for fans is likely to be the last half season of “The Crown”. With this varied program you can enjoy the dark season.
The Crown – from December 14th
The sixth season marks the final end of “The Crown”. After Netflix released the first part of the season in November, Part 2 will follow in December. The focus here is on the story of Princess Diana, who continues to expand her relationship with Dodi Fayed. Hunted by paparazzi, Diana’s life ultimately ends after a car accident in Paris. In the wake of this tragedy, Prince Charles travels to Paris and flies to bring Princess Diana’s body back to London.
Yu Yu Hakusho – from December 14th
Between the live-action adaptations of “One Piece” and the announcement of “Avatar,” “Yu Yu Hakusho” climbed rather quietly into the December program. Yusuke Urameshi is a rather misbegotten teenager, his career in the criminal world seems to be secure. But when a selfless act costs him his life, he is given a second chance – as a ghost detective. This live-action adaptation is fantasy action at its finest and certainly not for the faint of heart.
Gyeongseong Creature – from December 22nd
Atmospheric, nerve-racking and – yes, also a little scary: this is the new South Korean series “Gyeongseong Creature” with Park Seo-joon (“Parasite”), Claudia Kim (“Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald”) and Wi Ha- joon (“Midnight”). The story takes place in the spring of 1945, in Japan-colonized Korea. The city of Gyeongseong is plagued by bloodthirsty creatures of darkness, born of human greed, who bring nothing but death, mischief and chaos. Someone has to stop them, but the fight against evil requires more than just a few personal sacrifices.
New films on Netflix in December
With a view to the upcoming holiday season, Netflix is pursuing the strategy of less is more. With “I’m Glad It’s Christmas” (2022) and “A Merry Christmas Wish” (2022), Netflix is playing two cozy family films from the previous year, followed by the premiere of “Christmas as Usual”. But if you’re looking for action and excitement in December, you can look forward to “Fast & Furious 8”, the horror film “Insidious 5: The Red Door” and the new apocalyptic thriller “Leave the World Behind”. A very special documentary is “In the Face of ETA: Interview with a Terrorist”, which is about the bloody history of the Basque liberation movement.
Leave the World Behind – from December 8th
This star-studded thriller follows Amanda Sandford (Julia Roberts), who convinces her family to go on a spontaneous getaway to a Long Island vacation home. What initially begins as a happy break from everyday life experiences a first disruption when a second couple suddenly appears at the door – the alleged owners of the property. The two have just come from Manhattan, where a large-scale cyber attack has paralyzed the entire city. As the distrust between the two families grows deeper and deeper, the apocalyptic consequences of the blackout begin to affect the remote property – initially unnoticed.
Rebel Moon Part 1: Child of Fire – from December 22nd

Kora must use all her powers of persuasion to take advantage of the last chance for her and her people.
