The capital’s operational headquarters explained today new requirements for patients with COVID-19 and for those who came into contact with them. So, if the infected person has no symptoms, but the test is positive, the period of self-isolation at home is reduced to a week. The sick leave will close automatically, without a visit to the clinic.
The new rules apply to patients diagnosed on or after February 6th. Those who got sick earlier will stay at home for 14 days. But those who have been in contact with patients are no longer required to observe the isolation regime. All sick leave issued to contact persons will be closed today, February 7.
Another innovation concerns schools and kindergartens. Groups and classes will no longer be quarantined due to contact with the infected. Classes will be interrupted only if more than 20 percent of the children in the group fall ill.
“The patient’s well-being is taken as the basis for all preventive measures. Considering the fact that the incubation period is extremely short, the patient has a set of stereotypical symptoms that differ little from respiratory infections in almost a day – a maximum of three after contact with the diseased, therefore this approach is the patient’s well-being,” explained Alexander Gorelov, Deputy Director for Research at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.
In addition, the capacity of the telemedicine center for pregnant women with confirmed coronavirus has been increased in Moscow. Doctors constantly monitor the condition of patients. If necessary, pregnant women are sent for examinations to short-stay hospitals based on two leading clinics. So far, the incidence figures in the city are quite alarming – 15,442 new cases of infection over the past day. But the percentage of hospitalizations is small, mainly patients who have not consulted a doctor for a long time and have not been vaccinated.
“More than 300 beds are occupied, and the bed capacity is 1347 beds, we have free places. There is a good reserve. The situation is quite tense, we do not relax. As a rule, vaccinated patients do not come treatment on an outpatient basis, and the disease is mild, and sometimes without symptoms. They just don’t notice that they are sick,” said Andrey Shkoda, head physician of the city clinical hospital N67 named after Vorokhobov.
In the context of the rapid spread of the virus, special attention is now being paid to elementary safety rules. Residents are asked to wear masks. Employees of Rospotrebnadzor are on duty daily on transport. They continue to check how passengers of the metro, electric buses and trams comply with the rules, raids are also taking place on the territory of stations. Wearing a mask is also considered a violation.
