Today Minister Bruins Slot (Interior and Kingdom Relations) visited the Region Deal that is running in the Kop van Noord-Holland and saw with his own eyes that Region Deals work. In the Region Deals, the national government and the region are working together to tackle important challenges in the Netherlands in order to improve the quality of life, housing and work of residents and entrepreneurs, precisely in places that could use an extra boost. A new round of Region Deals will open from 7 July to 31 October and regions will be able to submit proposals again. € 384.6 million has been reserved for this. Minister Bruins Slot explains the procedure and the conditions in a letter to the House of Representatives.
Minister Bruins Slot: “During the various working visits I make throughout the Netherlands, I see the added value of the Region Deals. From Zeeland to Groningen. From Twente to Zaanstad. And also today, here in the Kop van Noord-Holland. The maritime environment of this region offers plenty of opportunities and possibilities. With the Region Deal Kop van Noord-Holland we tackle challenges by using the knowledge and skills of the people in the region itself. Because the maritime character of this region is unique. In this way we improve the lives, living and working of residents and entrepreneurs together.”
Fifth round Region Deals
The government has reserved a total of € 900 million for 3 rounds of the Region Deals during this government’s term of office. An amount of € 384.6 million has been reserved for the fifth round of Region Deals, in addition, the regions themselves also contribute financially. A new tranche of Regio Deals will follow in 2025.
