A third of children with a Wilms tumor, a form of kidney cancer, have a hereditary predisposition, according to new research. That is higher than was assumed and means that the later children of these cancer patients sometimes have a higher chance of developing kidney cancer. “But also that we can reassure many parents,” says pediatric oncologist Marry van den Heuvel-Eibrink.
