Last summer, FC Bayern spent more money than ever before on the transfer of Harry Kane. However, the former Munich player Michael Rummenigge does not assume that transfer payments beyond 95 million euros will become normal on Säbener Straße in the future.
Nobody doubts the usefulness of FC Bayern’s record investment anymore: In just 22 appearances, Harry Kane, who was brought in from Tottenham Hotspur, collected 33 (!) scorer points (25 goals, eight assists) and took the Bundesliga club’s offensive to a new level.
The risk taken by the club bosses, who had to play poker with Spurs boss Daniel Levy for weeks, paid off. Will there be more mega deals coming soon?
Ex-professional Michael Rummenigge is skeptical. “I don’t believe that FC Bayern will dig as deep into their pockets again in the coming months as they did for Harry Kane,” wrote the 59-year-old in a guest article for “Sportbuzzer”.
The younger brother of Bayern supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge added: “Even if the transfer fees get even crazier, people in Munich are aware that the money is not on the street and that you have to act cleverly in the transfer market.”
Rummenigge doesn’t see any interesting players for FC Bayern
As is well known, FC Bayern wants to go on a shopping spree in the winter in order to broaden its squad, especially in defense. However, none of the new players should cost as much as Kane.
Rummenigge currently sees “no player in such a price category who could be really interesting for the German record champions”.
At the same time, the former DFB international took the opportunity to once again praise FC Bayern for its sensational 95 million euro transfer last year.
“I would like to say: The money invested in Kane was worth it down to the last cent,” emphasized Rummenigge.
