Prof dr. mr. M. (Rinus) Otte is appointed as the new chairman of the Board of Procurators General. The Council of Ministers has decided to nominate him on the proposal of Minister Yeşilgöz-Zegerius of Justice and Security.
Prof Dr. Otte has been a member of the Board of Prosecutors General since March 2016. He has also been Professor at the University of Groningen since 2009. Otte was a judge in Assen from 1995 to 1999. He became a judge at the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal, where he later also became team leader and vice president. After that he was vice-president of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal, he was also a board member and chairman of the criminal sector. Before becoming a member of the Board of Procurators General, he served as a senior justice at the Arnhem-Leeuwarden Court of Appeal.
The intended appointment date is 1 June 2023. Otte will succeed GW (Gerrit) van der Burg as chairman.
