Lieke Klaver immediately set a personal record in her first 400 meters of the season. The athlete from Enkhuizen raced to a time of 50.80 seconds during the Golden Spike in Ostrava.
Klaver’s old personal best was 50.98. The 23-year-old athlete ran this at the Diamond League in Rome. During the Golden Spike in Ostrava, Czech Republic, Klaver eventually finished fourth in her race, but improved her record.
Last weekend Klaver also showed her good form in the 200 meters. At this distance she ran the European Championship limit. The European Athletics Championships will be held at the Olympiastadion in Munich from 15 to 21 August.
