New pot of money against problems on the net

Companies and institutions that want a solution to problems due to a lack of capacity on the network can use a new subsidy scheme from January 15. A total of one million euros is available for this.

Almost half (450,000) are intended for individual battery solutions, the province reports. 150,000 euros is available for feasibility studies. There is still 400,000 euros left for all other solutions.

Problems on the network arise because there is more demand for capacity on the network than the cables and stations can handle. This is called ‘grid congestion’. For example, companies that want to realize solar energy on roofs and land are on hold. Companies cannot electrify, expand or establish themselves in Drenthe.

“Together with grid operators, we are doing everything we can to expand the grid. But we think it is important that developments do not stand still in the meantime,” explains deputy Henk Jumelet. “The province wants to support entrepreneurs and other initiatives through this subsidy scheme.”

The new subsidy replaces two old schemes that can no longer be applied for since October. The application can be submitted via the province’s subsidy desk.
