After the departure of Minister Bruins Slot, the duties of the ministers at the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations have been rearranged. Some tasks have been transferred from the Minister of the Interior and Kingdom Relations to the State Secretary.

Most important changes

  • Public Housing and Spatial Planning in the Caribbean Netherlands will be transferred to the State Secretary.
  • The State Secretary will be the coordinating minister for following up on the apologies for the history of slavery. The minister remains involved and responsible from his own portfolio and participates in the ministerial steering group.
  • The State Secretary will be responsible for almost all tasks related to the functioning of the government service, both in terms of policy and implementation. The minister remains responsible for the National Purchasing, Facilities and Housing Policy, due to similarities with the Central Government Real Estate Agency, which also falls under the minister.
  • The State Secretary will coordinate the progress report on the government-wide strategy for an effective approach to disinformation.
