The Austrian clothing brand Habsburg has a future again. As part of the ongoing insolvency proceedings, all of the assets were acquired by the two entrepreneurs Markus Meindl and Michael Rumerstorfer, Habsburg Trikotmanufaktur GmbH announced on Thursday.
After the previous insolvency of the previous parent company Schneiders, the Habsburg clothing manufacturer had to file for bankruptcy at the beginning of June. The search for new investors has now been successfully completed. Under the new owners, who have many years of experience in the textile industry, Habsburg should now be put back on the road to success: “The existing jobs are largely secured, in the medium and long term the Austrian heritage brand with all its tradition should be preserved, internationalized and expanded will be,” the company said.
Markus Meindl, Managing Director of traditional costume supplier Meindl, explained the reasons for the purchase: “Habsburg has a lot in common with Meindl. That’s why we decided to take over Habsburg,” he said in a statement. “The past few weeks have been characterized by dynamic negotiations, which were successfully concluded yesterday with the purchase.”
In addition to Habsburg, the assets of the Schneiders brand were also taken over as part of the insolvency proceedings, according to a statement. For this, “a partner for a positive future scenario is currently being sought”.
