Coach Harold Kreis from DEL-Club Schwenninger Wild Wings has confirmed that the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB) sees him as a possible future national coach.
“It is true that the DEB has now expressed its interest to me,” the “Schwarzwälder Bote” quoted the 63-year-old German-Canadian as saying Circle.
There had been no talks as of Thursday afternoon.
When asked how he would decide in the event of a DEB offer, Kreis replied: “I’ll only look into the pot when it’s there. Everything else is speculative at this point.”
The previous national coach Toni Soderholm moved to SC Bern in Switzerland after the Germany Cup in November. The position has not been filled since then.
BZ already reported on Thursday that Kreis is to become Söderholm’s successor, with former national player Alexander Sulzer being the assistant coach.
