The new mayor of Hoogeveen must be a figurehead for the inhabitants of the municipality. He or she must also be confident, enthusiastic, strategic and visible. The latter preferably also on social media as much as possible.
This is evident from the profile sketch for the new mayor that will be discussed on Wednesday evening during an extra council meeting.
Commissioner of the King in Drenthe, Jetta Klijnsma will be present. If the council approves the profile, there will be a vacancy. Interested parties can respond to this after the summer.
Hoogeveen simply wants the best mayor. The head of the profile sketch gives it away a bit. The new mayor of Hoogeveen must meet quite a few conditions. It must be someone who is accessible, but at the same time ambitious. A person who can network well, is a leader and is seen as an ambassador for the municipality.
Many of these characteristics are included in the profile sketch that was drawn up with the help of residents. Hoogeveners could fill in a survey with which they could indicate what the new mayor must meet. A total of 734 people responded. The committee from the city council that examines the search for the new mayor has taken all wishes into account.
The same committee will then talk to the people who have applied. In the end, they come up with a letter of recommendation that goes back to Jetta Klijnsma. The King will eventually appoint the relevant mayor. On Wednesday it will become clear whether the city council agrees with the profile.
